Our pods have electric light, 3 pin sockets & small heater. Each pod is equipped with 2 single bench style beds with a self-inflating camping mattress.

One side of the bench can be pulled across to make one large bed. Our Pods are able to accommodate 2 adults & one child. There are pull down blinds on the window & doors for privacy.

Also with the pods, you can experience the ‘back to basics’ of camping with a campfire.

We have been awarded Visit England 4 star Camping & Touring Park status here at Shepherds Views Holidays and offer self-catering, caravan touring & camping on the west coast of Cumbria’s Lake District.
There is a large grassed area for camping and we also provide an immaculate family/unisex amenity block with underfloor heating, showers, washbasins & toilet facilities. There are also electric hairdryers and shaving points.

The Perfect Location

This is a perfect location to explore the beaches and the Wasdale valley, tour the area’s attractions and keep clear of the Lake District crowds.

Amazing how close the traditional Lake District visitor attractions and areas are, although to get there you would have to tackle Hardknott Pass. A worthy adversary for any walker, cyclist, or even car!

There are of course easier ways, but they just take longer.

The Local Area

Just a 15 minute walk from Shepherds Views will find you on a beautiful sandy beach where you can build sandcastles with your family or go for a romantic evening stroll to watch the sunset.

A short stroll up the lane through the farmyard will take you to Hallsenna Moor, an area of conservation and natural beauty. Choose one of the designated walks and look out for the wild deer grazing, fox cubs playing, the red squirrels, and many wild birds and animals native to the moor.

Yet another short stroll finds you at Spindlecraft, a quaint craft shop, which is part of the old station house.

The railway station serves the Barrow to Carlisle West Coast line, so you don’t even have to drive all the time.

Just a short drive brings you to Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass & Eskdale narrow-gauge railway, known locally as ’ The L’al Ratty.’

Slightly further afield is Grasmere, Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead & Windermere, which are all a short hop over the hills! Via Hardknott Pass that is.

The nearest Public House to Shepherds Views is the Victoria Hotel, which is just under a mile.  There are a number of traditional Public Houses & Restaurants in and around the area, where you can also sample some of Cumbria’s finest traditional ales & good home-cooked meals using local produce.

Shepherds Views is an ideal base camp for tacking some of the best walks in the UK.

St Bees, a short drive up the coast is the starting point for the Wainwright’s Coast To Coast Walk. The route passes through 3 contrasting National Parks before reaching Robin Hoods Bay.

Great Gable and Scafell Pike lie at the heart of the Lake District. They are the most popular of the Lakeland fells and there are several routes to the summits.

For those looking for a nice family walk either down a long sandy beach or across lowland fells, we have it all.

Throughout the summer season, there are many country shows held. These events are great for all the family and showcase some of the best arts, crafts, sports, and animal classes you can find.

If you’re looking for history then checkout Muncaster Castle. Take a tour around the castle and gardens or enjoy the amazing birds of prep demonstrations.

There are also several local tea rooms offering the finest afternoon teas, snacks, meals and Ice Creams

What better way to see the fabulous views around West Cumbria and the Lake District. There are many routes both off-road and on-road around the area and up into the fells.

Fancy a challenge then try Hard Knott Pass. This will get your heart pumping but the views at the top are well worth it.

There are many places to kayak, paddleboard, or sail around the west coast and on some of the local lakes and waterways.

In the village of Seascale, there is a ramp to the beach which is ideal for launching sailing dinghies or fishing boats.

With a short drive you can paddle Wast Water, Ennerdale Water, Ravenglass Estuary, Coniston Water and Windermere to name but a few.

In the town of Whitehaven, there is a marina that offers berthing for larger boats and access to the sea.
